Logistics Lead
Paebbl is an industrial resilience company turning captured CO₂ into carbon-storing building materials. We accelerate the natural process of CO₂ mineralisation — in which CO₂ reacts with minerals to form stable carbonates from thousands of years — to a matter of hours, producing a carbon-negative powder that can replace conventional, heavily emitting cementitious materials. Having switched on the world's first continuous CO₂ mineralisation demonstration plant, we are now scaling from startup execution into structured industrial operations. It is a fast-moving environment where pragmatism, ownership, and the ability to build things that work in the real world matter.
The Role
Paebbl’s first commercial plant will depend on a logistics network that works in practice: one that moves materials reliably, protects customer service, supports a financeable investment decision and keeps life-cycle assessment central to route and infrastructure choices. This role exists to turn Paebbl’s evolving first-of-a-kind logistics work into an executable network design and a set of bankable logistics agreements.
You will own the logistics design across inbound bulk materials, port and terminal interfaces, shipping, stevedoring, transhipment, intermediate storage, silo capacity and outbound delivery to customers. You will translate supply, plant and customer scenarios into practical route and infrastructure options across sea, road, rail and inland waterways where viable, then secure the capacity, service levels and commercial terms required to deliver them.
This is both a design and delivery role. Alongside Supply Chain, Project Delivery, Finance, Legal, Engineering, Operations, Health, Safety and Environment and Commercial, you will plan current and future shipments, resolve interface issues, engage external partners and convert operational learning into better customer-specific solutions and a scalable network. You will design for the best overall outcome without assuming that Paebbl must own or operate every logistics leg.
The person who succeeds here will be equally comfortable challenging a network model, negotiating a terminal agreement and standing at a port or customer site to make sure the shipment works in reality.
Key Responsibilities
Design the first-of-a-kind logistics network from supply, plant ramp-up and customer demand scenarios, defining shipment sizes and cadence, port and terminal requirements, transhipment points, storage and silo needs, last-mile delivery, capacity, operating interfaces and contingency routes.
Lead market engagement, tenders and negotiations with carriers, ports, stevedores, terminal operators, warehouse and silo providers, freight forwarders and other logistics partners.
Convert logistics concepts into investment-decision-ready commitments that provide credible capacity, service and cost certainty for the project and its ramp-up.
Work with Supply Chain, Project Delivery, Finance and Legal to establish scope, battery limits, throughput and service levels, pricing and indexation, ramp flexibility, minimum-volume commitments, demurrage, loss and damage, insurance, liability, claims, force majeure, termination and contingency arrangements.
Map customs and cross-border requirements for priority supply and customer corridors, including product classification, origin, customs procedures, valuation, duties, value-added tax, documentation, broker support and delivery responsibilities.
Partner with customer-facing teams to understand demand profiles, delivery windows, receiving equipment, storage constraints and customer logistics capabilities, then plan and coordinate priority shipments.
Establish clear handover points, responsibilities and escalation routes across Paebbl, customers, carriers, terminals and other operating partners, resolving delivery issues quickly and capturing the learning.
Maintain traceable logistics cost, capacity, inventory and emissions assumptions, validate model outputs with supplier quotations and route-specific feasibility checks, and explain sensitivities and residual risks to project and leadership teams.
Work with Engineering, Operations and Health, Safety and Environment to ensure terminal and transport concepts reflect Paebbl’s material properties, product quality, dust and moisture controls, safe handling, traceability and practical operating procedures.
Recommend which activities should be Paebbl-managed, supplier-managed, customer-managed or outsourced, and create the performance measures and operating playbook needed for the first-of-a-kind ramp and later growth.
What We’re Looking For
You have substantial experience designing, procuring or operating industrial logistics networks, ideally involving bulk commodities, minerals, cement, chemicals or other materials with demanding handling requirements.
You have direct experience across several of ocean or short-sea freight, ports and stevedoring, transhipment, bulk terminals, silo or warehouse storage, road distribution, rail or inland waterways.
You have taken an uncertain logistics concept through supplier validation, commercial negotiation and contract award, and understand the difference between a budgetary quotation and a commitment that can support an investment decision.
You bring strong commercial and contract-management judgement across capacity, service levels, pricing, liability and operating interfaces, while retaining commercial ownership alongside Legal review.
You have working knowledge of customs and international trade processes and know when to bring in customs brokers or specialist advisers.
You can build and challenge cost and capacity models, test route feasibility and communicate assumptions, evidence and uncertainty clearly.
You are comfortable working across commercial, engineering, project, operations and customer teams, including with external partners at ports, terminals and operating sites.
You take a practical, delivery-minded approach and can move between network strategy, contract detail and the realities of getting a shipment safely to its destination.
You communicate exceptionally well in written and spoken English and are willing to travel regularly across Europe.
Nice to Have
Experience with cementitious materials, supplementary cementitious materials, mineral powders, aggregates or comparable bulk solids.
Experience incorporating logistics emissions into product life-cycle assessment, route selection, customer discussions or investment cases.
Experience with first-of-a-kind industrial projects, project finance readiness, investment decision gates or ramp-up of new terminal and handling infrastructure.
Professional experience in a North Sea port, bulk terminal, shipping, construction materials, mining and minerals, chemicals or industrial freight environment.
Additional European language skills relevant to Paebbl’s priority sites, customers or logistics corridors.
The Person Who Will Thrive in This Role
You are pragmatic, proactive and comfortable working at startup pace, where priorities evolve and the answer is rarely available in a finished playbook. You balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, take ownership without waiting for perfect information, and bring a low-ego, collaborative approach to internal and external relationships. You make ambiguity visible, turn it into decisions and keep moving while protecting safety, customer service and commercial discipline.
At Paebbl, this role will not simply arrange transport. You will be a strategic partner in turning the first commercial plant’s logistics assumptions into a resilient, measurable and executable operating model.
What Success Looks Like After 12 Months
The selected first-of-a-kind site has a validated logistics architecture sized against the plant ramp and customer demand, with credible alternatives and contingencies. Critical logistics capacity, terminal and storage access, and service requirements are supported by negotiated agreements suitable for the investment decision, with clear commercial boundaries and risk allocation.
The project team has a defensible cost, capacity, inventory and emissions basis, with assumptions replaced by market evidence wherever possible and remaining uncertainties clearly flagged. Customs and cross-border responsibilities are understood for priority corridors, specialist advice has been incorporated, and practical procedures are in place before shipments depend on them.
Current customer deliveries are well coordinated, handover responsibilities are clear and delivery learning is feeding directly into route, storage, handling and network decisions. You lead customer logistics discussion and align expectations. You are trusted by project, commercial, operations and leadership teams as a practical logistics partner who can connect customer needs, supplier commitments and the realities of safe industrial execution.
