Senior/Principal Platform Engineer
If you're the kind of engineer who prefers leverage over heroics and gets energised by building platforms others rely on, come help us develop the infrastructure behind a climate positive future.
Join Paebbl, a founder-led climate technology company on a mission to permanently sequester CO₂ and turn it into essential products. Our technology is inspired by nature's own mineralisation process- we just run it a million times faster. Backed by long-term institutional and private investors, and built by a team spanning technology, industrial engineering, mining, decarbonisation, digital innovation, waste management, finance, and academia, we're now ready to scale.
Are you an engineer who thinks in systems and gets a thrill from accelerating other engineers? Paebbl is building a climate-positive future, and we need a Platform Engineer who creates real leverage - someone who takes end-to-end ownership and makes the whole team faster, safer, and more effective.
You'll work hand in hand with data scientists, analysts, and modellers to build cloud-scale application & data capabilities that genuinely move the needle.
Why You'll Love This Role
Build Platform, Not Features:
Design systems from the ground up that create lasting leverage across the entire engineering organisation
Work at the Frontier:
Get hands-on with the latest AWS capabilities, including SageMaker Unified Studio, Bedrock, and beyond, in a stack that's modern by design, not by accident.
Own It End-to-End:
From dev to production, this role has real scope. No tickets, no hand-offs, just ownership.
What You Bring
AWS Depth
Strong production experience with Lambda, ECS, S3, SageMaker, and Bedrock, with solid knowledge of IAM, cloud networking, and security fundamentals.
Terraform Expertise
Deep, hands-on Terraform experience. You write infrastructure-as-code the way others write software.
Professional Python
You build production-quality Python modules, CLI tools, and platform libraries. You think in packages and interfaces, not just scripts.
Data Platform Know-How
You understand batch and streaming architectures, and you've supported data science and analytics teams before.
Engineering Rigour
Strong CI/CD, testing, and version control practices (especially on GitHub), with a track record of building systems that scale with organisational growth.
Bonus Points For
Experience with container platforms (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes), event-driven architectures, data engineering, FinOps, or working in industrial or high-growth engineering environments.
Your Day-to-Day
Build for Leverage
Create platform tools and capabilities that make every engineer on the team more productive and confident in production.
Own the Cloud Platform
Design, operate, and improve cloud infrastructure that scales alongside Paebbl's ambitions.
Partner Across Teams
Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, modellers, and others to understand their needs and build reliable, scalable solutions that accelerate their work.
Raise the Bar
Champion engineering best practices, clean code, solid documentation, security by default, and help embed them across the organisation.
