Paebbl is pioneering the next generation of carbon-storing materials, transforming CO₂ into high-performance cementitious products. We are looking for a Procurement Manager to handle the day-to-day purchasing of materials, equipment, and services essential to Paebbl’s operations. This role is critical in ensuring timely delivery, cost-effective sourcing, and smooth procurement processes to support our rapid scaling efforts.

The Role

As Head of Supply Chain & Procurement, you will develop and execute strategies for raw material procurement and CO₂ capture partnerships, ensuring seamless integration into our operational workflow. You will oversee the entire supply chain, from sourcing to final product delivery, with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and scalability.

This role is based in Rotterdam, with a requirement to spend 50-90% of your time on-site at our production and R&D facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimise Supply Chain: Manage the end-to-end supply chain upstream and downstream, working closely with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure seamless operations, supporting Paebbl’s strategic goals and expansion efforts.
• Own up-to-date information of our supply chain: Monitor global trends, regulations, and market dynamics affecting the availability and pricing of raw materials.
• Interface across teams to ensure alignment: Work closely with technical, commercial, and production teams to align procurement and supply chain operations with production needs.

• Set up an efficient procurement function: As first employee dedicated to the procurement and supply chain function, you will be expected to set up the foundations to an efficient procurement-as-a-service function that will support all our teams in our Rotterdam R&D centre.
• Cost Control & Negotiation: Secure the best possible pricing and terms while maintaining quality and reliability.
• Manage CO₂ Partnerships: Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships with CO₂ providers to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply.
• Procure Key Raw Materials: Lead and execute procurement for key raw materials for our production and R&D operations, balancing cost, quality, and sustainability while building strong supplier relationships.

• Optimised Raw Material Procurement: Developed and executed procurement processes that help reduce procurement costs by >30% while ensuring material quality.
• Scalable CO₂ Partnerships: Secured partnerships with the most suitable CO₂ providers, ensuring a stable and cost-effective supply that meets technical requirements and scale-up plans.
• Efficient Supply Chain Operations: Reduced logistics costs and improved inventory management, leading to a 20% increase in operational efficiency, focusing on cost of production and customer delivery times.
• Established and systematically tracked a well-established supplier network with reliable, cost-effective sourcing agreements in place.
• Accurate cost basing: Built and maintained a reliable, up-to-date database of the costs and environmental performance factors of our raw materials, enabling accurate business case making and optimised technology development.
• Sustainability & Compliance: Implemented sustainable sourcing practices that align with Paebbl’s mission and evolving industry regulations.
• Strong collaboration with operations, R&D, and finance teams, ensuring procurement aligns with business needs.
• Effective tracking systems implemented, providing clear visibility into procurement costs and inventory status.

Qualifications & Skills

• 7+ years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or operations, ideally in a start-up or technology-driven environment.
• Expertise in procurement, logistics, and inventory management as well as scaling supply chain operations to support business growth.
• Proven ability to negotiate and manage supplier partnerships within international supply chains, particularly in chemical and manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost reduction and operational efficiency.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
