Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lead Mechanical Equipment Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and inspecting piping systems for various industrial applications, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs, conduct thorough inspections, and provide technical support to ensure the reliability and safety of piping systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Piping Design:
- Develop piping layouts, isometric drawings, and system designs using relevant design software (AutoCAD, PDMS, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Perform stress analysis and ensure design integrity under different load conditions (thermal, pressure, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, and client specifications.
- Select appropriate materials, components, and equipment for piping systems based on project requirements.
- Prepare design documentation, technical reports, and material specifications. Development and management of equipment strategies
- Design reviews, risk assessments, hazops, vendor qualifications, vendor bid evaluations
- Documentation owner of maintenance and inspection data
- Legal and non-legal inspection execution, preparation of repair plans according to industry norms and legal standards

Piping Inspection:
- Conduct regular inspections of piping systems during installation and commissioning phases.
- Perform inspections to identify defects, corrosion, wear, and other anomalies in existing systems.
- Utilize non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, and visual inspection to evaluate the integrity of pipes.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements during inspections and reporting.
- Collaborate with QA/QC teams to develop and implement inspection procedures.

Project Coordination:
- Work closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, and other team members to ensure designs meet project timelines and budgets.
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials
- Assist in developing cost estimates, schedules, and technical specifications for projects.

Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all piping designs and inspections comply with relevant local, national, and international codes and standards.
- Address safety concerns and proactively identify design improvements to mitigate risks.
- Support the preparation of HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies and risk assessments.
Qualifications and Skills :
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in piping design software (AutoCAD, PDMS, CAESAR II, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, etc.).
- Experience with NDT techniques and inspection processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Development and management of equipment strategies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) or related qualifications, Inspection level 3 certification desired
- Familiarity with project management software and methodologies.
